MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING         BOARD OF EDUCATION       SCHOOL DIST #9

Potter-Dix Public School                           October 11, 2011                      7:30pm

 

The Board of Education of District #9, Potter-Dix Public School, Potter, Nebraska, met in regular session on October 11, 2011.  Roll Call showed the following members were present: Chris Bogert, Jerome Frei, Brad Hicks, Staci Magninie, Mike Rotert, and Claire Smith. Also present were Superintendent Kevin Thomas, Principal Phillip Hoyt and Recording Secretary Marlene Slama.

 

President Frei called the meeting to order at 7:30pm.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.  President Frei pointed out that the Open Meetings Act information was posted on the Library wall.

 

Moved by Smith and seconded by Hicks to approve the minutes, as published, of the September 12, 2011, Budget Hearing, Property Tax Request Resolution Hearing and Regular Board Meeting.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Rotert to approve the agenda, as submitted, for the October 11, 2011, Regular Board Meeting.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Hicks to allow the high school volleyball team to practice on Sunday, October 30, 2011, prior to Subdistricts on Monday.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Smith and seconded by Rotert to amend the school calendar for dismissal of Grades 7-12 on November 29, 2011, as Potter-Dix is hosting the District One-Act Play Contest.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Bogert and seconded by Hicks to pay monthly bills and payroll amounting to $226,108.16.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Smith and seconded by Magninie to recognize the September 7-12 Coyote P.A.C.K. students:  12th – Tiffany LaBeau, 11th – Luke Johnson, 10th – Katelyn Woten, 9th – Jourdan Langley, 8th – Keverett Rusk, 7th – Alana Thies and the September K-6 ̉Ruler of the MonthÓ students:  6th – Kaden Vowers, 5th – Michael Steele, 4th – Mattie Johnson, 3rd – Jaron Anderson, 2nd – Kendal Nielsen, 1st – Christopher Nelson, Kindergarten – Madison Williamson.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Rotert and seconded by Bogert to begin charging admission to home games for all Potter-Dix patrons beginning with the upcoming 2011-12 basketball season at the following prices:  Adults - $4.00, P-D Students – Free.  Carried 5-1 with Smith voting no. 

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to invest the maximum amount with The Potter State Bank for 30 days at the current interest rate.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Rotert and seconded by Hicks to approve the annual review of the Safety Plan.  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Bogert and seconded by Smith to adopt the resolution to participate in the Choice Joint Utilities Management Program (CJUMP).  Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Rotert to adjourn the meeting at 8:29pm.  Carried 6-0.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #9 will be Monday, November 14, 2011, at 7:30pm in the library at the Potter Site.  The agenda will be kept current in the office of the Superintendent.
