MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING     BOARD OF EDUCATION    SCHOOL DIST #9

Potter-Dix Public School             December 17, 2009        4:00pm

 

The Board of Education of District #9, Potter-Dix Public School, Potter, Nebraska, met in regular session with President Jerome Frei presiding.  Also present were Tim Maas, Staci Magninie, Vern Nelson, Claire Smith, Principal Bryce Jorgenson, Superintendent Kevin Thomas and Recording Secretary Marlene Slama.  Member Larry Miller was absent and excused by President Frei.  

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to approve the minutes, as published, for the November 16, 2009, Regular Board Meeting.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Maas to approve the agenda, as submitted, for the December 17, 2009, Regular Board Meeting.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Nelson to waive the option enrollment deadline for Shelby Warren.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Magninie to commend the One-Act Team for their excellent season and 3rd place finish at State.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Nelson to pay monthly bills & payroll amounting to $223,890.46.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Smith and seconded by Magninie to recognize the 7-12 ÒStarÓ Students of the Month for November: Senior-Dylan Baker, Junior-Stephanie Mitchell, Sophomore-Taylor Holz, Freshman-Conner Wolff, 8th Grade-Katelyn Woten, 7th Grade-Cody Garlach and K-6 ÒPawsitiveÓ Students of the Month for November: 6th Grade-Danelle Christensen, 5th Grade-Brittany Paxton, 4th Grade-Dylan Nielsen, 3rd Grade-Deshka McConnell, 2nd Grade-Caleb Mahon, 1st Grade-Donnie Moench, Kindergarten-Landon Mahon.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Smith and seconded by Nelson to approve the contract with the Kearney Area Community Foundation to establish a foundation for the benefit of Potter-Dix Public Schools. Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Maas to accept the bid from Twin City Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. to re-roof the Dix site cafeteria, Art room and Boiler room pending a sloped roof option.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Maas to accept the SpecPro bid to replace the Dix site windows for $208,500.00 with a 5-year payment plan.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Maas to invest the maximum amount with the Potter State Bank for 30 days at the current interest rate.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to ratify the Head Track contract for Robert Hilpert, the Assistant Track contract for Amee Hicks, and Assistant Speech contracts for Valerie Maas, Mindi Soldat‘nkov, and Joette Wells.  Carried 5-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Smith to enter executive session at 5:58pm for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual to discuss personnel.  Carried 5-0.

 

Reconvened at 7:37pm.  President Frei re-stated that executive session was used to discuss personnel.

 

Meeting adjourned at 7:38pm.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education of District #9 will be Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 6:00pm in the library at the Potter Site.  An agenda will be kept current in the office of the Superintendent.
