MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING    BOARD OF EDUCATION    SCHOOL DIST #9

Potter-Dix Public Schools                           November 16, 2009                                  6:00 p.m.

 

 

 

The Board of Education of District #9, Potter-Dix Public Schools, Potter, Nebraska, met in regular session with President Jerome Frei presiding. Also present were Tim Maas, Staci Magninie, Larry Miller, Vern Nelson, Claire Smith, Principal Jorgenson and Superintendent Thomas.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Miller to approve the minutes, as published, for the October 13, 2009 regular board meeting. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Smith to approve the agenda, as submitted, for the November 16, 2009 regular board meeting. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Miller to purchase wall pads for the Potter site gym. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Nelson to commend the Football and Volleyball teams on their excellent seasons. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Maas to pay monthly bills and payroll amounting to $274,546.45. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to recognize the following 7-12 ÒStar StudentsÓ for the month of October. 7th-Cooper Hicks, 8th-Lanie Moench, 9th-Devan Baker, 10th-Clint Serres, 11th-Sarah Ford, 12th-Kayla Johnson. K-6 ÒPawsitive StudentsÓ for October are K-Kendal Nielsen, 1st- Lainey Hausmann, 2nd-Makayla Merz. 3rd-Jenna Thies, 4th-Savannah Maes, 5th-Kristian Barraza, 6th-Savannah Shaw. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Miller and seconded by Magninie to accept the bid from Sterling West for $29,984.70, using AARA funds, to purchase playground equipment for the Dix site. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Nelson to transfer $1,000.00 from the General Fund to the Close-up group. Carried 4-0-2 with Frei and Smith abstaining.

 

Moved by Maas and seconded by Miller to invest the maximum amount with the Potter State Bank for 30 days at the current interest rate. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Magninie to waive the two readings requirement and amend Policy #4024 regarding Professional Boundaries between Employees and Students policy. Carried 6-0.

 

 

Moved by Miller and seconded by Nelson to approve the 2008-2009 financial audit. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Maas to ratify the Assistant Boys Basketball contract for Dan Dorwart. Carried 6-0.

 

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Magninie to enter executive session, for the protection of the public interest, at 7:51 p.m. to discuss negotiations. Carried 6-0

 

Reconvened at 9:25 p.m.

President Frei re-stated that executive session was used to discuss negotiations.

 

Adjourn at 9:30 p.m.
