MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF EDUCATION SCHOOL DIST #9

Potter-Dix Public School October 13, 2009 7:30pm

The Board of Education of District #9, Potter-Dix Public School, Potter, Nebraska, met in regular session with President Jerome Frei presiding. Also present were Tim Maas, Staci Magninie, Larry Miller, Vern Nelson, Claire Smith, Principal Bryce Jorgenson, and Superintendent Kevin Thomas.

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Miller to approve the minutes, as published, for the September 15, 2009, Budget Hearing, Property Tax Request Resolution Hearing, and Regular Board Meeting. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to approve the agenda, as submitted, for the October 13, 2009, Regular Board Meeting. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Maas and seconded by Magninie to allow the Volleyball team to practice on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Miller and seconded by Maas to pay monthly bills & payroll amounting to $231,039.07. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Smith and seconded by Magninie to commend the 7-12 “Star” Students of the Month for September: Brandi Tallmage-Senior, Allie Tremain-Junior, Tiffany LaBeau-Sophomore, Bailey Long-Freshman, Mahlon Gingerich-8^th Grade, Ryley Hicks 7^th-Grade and the K-6 “Pawsitive” Students of the Month for September: Cortney Lewis-6^th Grade, Levi Kasten-5^th Grade, Grant Hausmann-4^th Grade, Sheridan Magninie-3^rd Grade, Brandon Dedic-2^nd Grade, Mikayla Lee-1^st Grade, Alayna Merrill-Kindergarten. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Nelson and seconded by Miller to invest the maximum amount with the Potter State Bank for 30 days at the current interest rate. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Smith and seconded by Miller to contract with ALICAP for district insurance. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Maas and seconded by Magninie to approve the Safety Plan. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Smith to adopt the Library/Media Center Policy. Carried 6-0.

Moved by Magninie and seconded by Nelson to enter executive session for the protection of the public interest at 9:25pm to discuss negotiations. Carried 6-0.

Reconvened at 9:51pm. President Frei re-stated that executive session was used to discuss negotiations.

Meeting adjourned at 9:55pm.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education of District #9 will be Monday, November 16, 2009, at 6:00pm in the library at the Potter Site. An agenda will be kept current in the office of the Superintendent.
