January 14, 2010
6:00 p.m.
The
Board of Education of District #9, Potter-Dix Public Schools, Potter, Nebraska,
met in regular session with President Jerome Frei presiding. Also present were
Tim Maas, Staci Magninie, Larry Miller, Vern Nelson, Claire Smith, Principal
Jorgenson and Superintendent Thomas.
Moved
by Nelson and seconded by Smith to approve the minutes, as published, for the
December 17, 2009 regular board meeting. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Maas and seconded by Magninie to approve the agenda, as submitted, for the
January 14, 2010 regular board meeting. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Maas and seconded by Magninie to allow the basketball teams to practice on
Sundays before a Monday contest. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Magninie and seconded by Nelson to pay monthly bills and payroll amounting
to $216,262.72. Carried 6-0.
The
first part of the meeting was adjourned and reconvened for reorganization
purposes in the second part of the meeting.
Vern
Nelson, acting as Temporary Chairman for the purpose of reorganization, called
for nominations for President.
Miller
nominated Jerome Frei for President. Moved by Maas and seconded by Miller to
cease nominations and that a unanimous ballot be cast for Jerome Frei for
President. Carried 5-0 with Frei abstaining.
Smith
nominated Staci Magninie for Vice President. Moved by Maas and seconded by
Nelson to cease nominations and that a unanimous ballot be cast for Staci
Magninie for Vice President. Carried 5-0 with Magninie abstaining
Maas
nominated Claire Smith for Secretary. Moved by Magninie and seconded by Maas to
cease nominations and that a unanimous ballot be cast for Claire Smith for
Secretary. Carried 5-0 with Smith abstaining
Nelson
nominated Tim Maas for Treasurer. Moved by Miller and seconded by Magninie to
cease nominations and that a unanimous ballot be cast for Tim Maas for
Treasurer. Carried 5-0 with Maas abstaining
The
ÒOath of OfficeÓ was read aloud by President Frei and presented to and signed
by each Board member.

by Miller and seconded by Magninie to waive the option enrollment deadline for
Tristen Meeker and Cody Wolverton. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Magninie and seconded by Smith to invest the maximum amount with the Potter
State Bank for 30 days at the current interest rate. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Maas and seconded by Nelson to designate the Superintendent as the
authorized representative for all state and federal programs and applications
for local substitute certificates. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Nelson and seconded by Magninie to ratify the Assistant D.I. sponsor
contract for Soni Moench. Carried 6-0.
Moved
by Maas and seconded by Nelson to enter executive session at 7:15 p.m. for the
prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual to discuss
Superintendent evaluation. Carried 6-0.
Reconvened
at 8:44 p.m. President Frei re-stated that executive session was used to
discuss Superintendent evaluation.
Moved
by Smith and seconded by Magninie to offer an administrative contract to Kevin
Thomas (Superintendent) for the 2010-2011 school year. Carried 5-1 with Maas
voting no.
Moved
by Magninie and seconded by Smith to recognize the 7-12 ÒStarÓ Students of the
Month for December:Senior-Brandy Newbanks, Junior-Kaleb Thomas,
Sophomore-Austin Halligan, Freshman-Dakota Ramsey, 8th Grade-Paul
